Welcome to Playfield Books. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Playfield Books website, products, and services. By using this website or engaging Playfield Books for services, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Playfield Books

Playfield Books provides full-service custom board book creation and production services, which may include concept development, writing assistance, illustration management, design, proofing, manufacturing coordination, and delivery coordination.

The specific scope of each project is defined in the approved quote and, where applicable, the signed Project Agreement.

2. Website Use

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not interfere with its operation or the experience of other users.

You may not:

  • Submit false or misleading information.

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website or its systems.

  • Upload malicious software or harmful content.

  • Use the website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.

3. Quotes and Orders

Quotes are provided based on the information supplied by the customer.

Pricing, timelines, and project scope may change if project requirements change before work begins.

No project is considered accepted until:

  • An approved quote has been issued;

  • Any required agreements have been executed;

  • The required deposit has been received.

4. Payment Terms

Unless otherwise stated in writing:

  • A 50% deposit is required before creative work begins.

  • The remaining balance is due upon final proof approval and before production begins.

  • Playfield Books reserves the right to suspend work or delay production until all required payments have been received.

5. Project Scope and Revisions

The approved quote defines the project scope.

Sample spreads and proofs include up to two rounds of revisions unless otherwise agreed.

Additional revisions or material changes to the approved scope may result in additional fees and revised project timelines.

6. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for providing complete and accurate information throughout the project.

Clients are responsible for reviewing and approving all proofs before production begins, including:

  • Spelling

  • Grammar

  • Layout

  • Factual accuracy

  • Image placement

  • Overall design approval

Approval of final proofs authorizes Playfield Books to begin production.

7. Intellectual Property

Clients represent that they own or have obtained all necessary rights to any text, artwork, logos, trademarks, photographs, or other materials submitted for use in their project.

Upon receipt of full payment, ownership of the completed custom book and project-specific illustrations transfers to the Client.

Playfield Books retains ownership of its workflows, templates, methodologies, systems, production processes, preliminary concepts, drafts, and working files unless otherwise agreed in writing.

8. Portfolio Rights

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Client grants Playfield Books permission to display completed projects, including book covers, interior spreads, photographs, project descriptions, and testimonials for portfolio, marketing, and promotional purposes.

Confidential business information will not be disclosed without prior written consent.

9. Manufacturing

Board books are custom manufactured products.

Minor variations in color, trimming, material appearance, or manufacturing characteristics are considered normal and do not constitute defects.

10. Shipping

Production and shipping timelines are estimates only.

Complete shipping terms, including damage reporting procedures, are available in our Shipping Policy.

11. Cancellations and Refunds

Refunds and cancellations are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Projects that have entered production are not eligible for refunds.

12. Right to Refuse Service

Playfield Books reserves the right to refuse or terminate projects that:

  • Violate applicable law.

  • Infringe the intellectual property rights of others.

  • Violate these Terms.

  • Involve abusive, fraudulent, or unlawful conduct.

  • Fail to satisfy required payment obligations.

13. No Professional Advice

Playfield Books provides creative and production services only.

Nothing provided through our website or services constitutes legal, financial, tax, medical, regulatory, or other professional advice.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Playfield Books' total liability arising out of any project or use of this website shall not exceed the amount paid by the Client for the applicable project.

Playfield Books shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits or business interruption.

15. Force Majeure

Playfield Books shall not be responsible for delays or failure to perform caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, government actions, labor disputes, manufacturing delays, supply chain disruptions, customs delays, transportation interruptions, technology failures, or other similar events.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the services provided by Playfield Books shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located within California.

17. Changes to These Terms

Playfield Books may update these Terms from time to time. Updated versions will become effective upon posting to this website.
